Snake Game for Kids: Eat the Flags of a Continent

The classic snake game, with flags. A continent is named, like Asia: steer your snake to eat flags from there and it grows longer, and the country's name pops up. Eat a flag from somewhere else and you lose a heart, but you find out where that country really is. The field has no walls, you get three hearts, and the continent changes every five flags. Swipe, use the arrow keys or tap the arrow buttons.

How to play

  1. Pick your flag: it becomes your snake's head.
  2. A continent is named. Swipe, use the arrow keys or tap the arrow buttons to steer onto its flags; each one makes the snake longer and shows the country's name.
  3. A flag from another continent, or biting your own tail, costs one of your three hearts. Every five right flags the continent changes.

What kids learn

Which countries are on which continent, recognizing flags quickly, and the country names (each eaten flag is named, and a wrong one says where it really is); plus quick reactions and steering.

Tips for parents and teachers

Questions from grown-ups

Is it hard?

It starts slowly and only speeds up a little as the score grows. There are no walls, so younger kids aren't out for touching the edge.

What happens with a wrong flag?

You lose a heart and the snake gets a bit shorter, and the game tells you which continent that country is in.

Is there violence?

No. The snake just eats flags; bumping into itself says 'Ouch!'.

Is the score saved?

The best score is kept on this device only. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Does it work on a computer?

Yes: the arrow keys steer.

Is it free? Does my child need an account?

Yes, it's free, with no sign-up, login, or download, and it never asks for personal details. It runs in the browser on phones, tablets, and computers.
