Flag Hunter: a Retro Maze Adventure

A retro maze adventure in chunky pixel art, like the classic computer games of the 90s. A new level opens every Friday, each in a new country. In each country's level, find the golden flag to open the door, collecting gems for points on the way. Climb ladders, fly the jetpack, float critters away with the bubble wand, walk through secret walls and warp to bonus rooms. Every ❓ sign tells a fact about the country, and the door asks for its capital for a bonus star. Each level has its own chiptune music. Use the arrow keys, Space, X for bubbles and J for the jetpack, or the big buttons on a phone or tablet.

How to play

  1. Pick a country's level. The first is open; finishing a level opens the next. The newest level, a new one every Friday, is open to everyone.
  2. Walk with the arrow keys (or ◀ ▶), jump and climb ladders with Space or ↑ (⤒), climb down with ↓ (▼). Grab gems for points: blue 50, red 100, ring 200, crown 300. Find the bubble wand (X or 🫧) to float critters away, and the jetpack (J or 🚀) to fly; touch it again to refill. Some walls that twinkle are secret passages, and a swirl warps to a bonus room.
  3. Find the golden flag (the country's own flag): it opens the door. Go through the door and answer the capital question. One star for the door, one for 3 in 4 gems, one for the capital.

What kids learn

Each country's flag, its capital and facts from the ❓ signs, which are read aloud: its continent, languages, a famous place or its national animal. Plus planning a route through a maze, timing jumps and keeping going after a mistake.

Tips for parents and teachers

Questions from grown-ups

Is there any fighting?

No. The bubble wand floats critters away in a bubble. Touching water, fire, thorns or a critter costs a heart and puts the player back on safe ground; losing every heart only refills them, never a game over.

Is the music original?

Yes. Each level has its own chiptune, written by the game in the style of 90s computer games; nothing is copied or recorded.

Is progress saved?

Levels, stars and best scores are kept on this device only. Nothing is sent anywhere.

Does it work on a computer?

Yes: arrow keys, Space to jump, X for bubbles, J for the jetpack and P to pause.

How often are new levels added?

A new level opens every Friday, each in a new country, with nothing to install. The newest one is open to everyone, and grown-ups can add a Friday reminder to their calendar from the levels page.

Is it free? Does my child need an account?

Yes, it's free, with no sign-up, login, or download, and it never asks for personal details. It runs in the browser on phones, tablets, and computers.
